The second I picked up the phone with Robin to discuss our potential project, I knew her warm and sweet personality would be an incredible collaboration. Robin owns Puck & Abby and her curated collection of goods won me over, especially the mindful brands she carries. We decided to start with creating a summer feel using Bembien woven bags and earrings, Maslo Jewelry earrings, and some wood serve ware. With Puck & Abby being solely online, our goal was to create imagery that engages your senses by creating rich and textural environments so it feels as if you’re touching the products through the screen.
I sent Robin some initial ideas and we both loved the concept of setting up an outdoor picnic using the wood serve ware while including the Bembien handbags. I love the feel of woven bags, fruit, and some filtered sunlight through trees. I also sent some flatly ideas for the jewelry as well as some shots of them being worn. I love a good photograph of coveted earrings worn by someone. I wanted to recreate this idea, so to avoid additional contact with models I have been shooting jewelry on myself and it’s quite fun! I definitely don’t feel as elegant as these photos on a regular basis, but the process of creating a mood to match the product is a fun challenge.
I was so happy when Robin told me she truly loved the photos and felt they were aligned with her brand image. I always put a lot of thought into prop choices, lighting, environment, textures, color palette, mood, and editing so when this all comes together successfully it’s so fulfilling. I hope sharing these images serves as a little window into my vision when working on these projects!
